Obama Biden '08!

It is amazing that after over $100 million in donor money spent in the Democrat primaries, this is the last Democrat standing.
You hear about his community organizer past. One thing not heard is that nothing he worked on as a community organizer he tried to better as a State Senator.
As a kicker he chooses Biden as his running made. Talk about a toxic running mate.

Could've been a lot worse.
They could have spent the $100 million in donor money, staged 20+ debates, endless speeches, town hall meetings and press conferences. They could've done the rounds of the talking head programs, the cable news networks and the rubber chicken circuit and in the end chosen John McCain to stand as their nominee.
The only way it could've been any worse then that is if he went out and chose the mayor of a town smaller then Bayville who was Governor for a little over 18 months of a state that has less residents then the township of Oyster Bay to be the proverbial heartbeat away from the Presidency.
Talk about toxic.

I just got this from a friend of mine. Normally I'm not a Silverman fan, This is so funny and what a clever idea! The Great Schlep by Sarah Silverman. There is a viewer discretion warning that will come up first. (BTW my friend is Jewish)

Seems to me that most posters (me 2!) are using the Republican thread for pro and cons for both candidates, anyway the threads (and title) could be combined?
Reply to this
Should I rename "For Rep" or "For Dem" instead. The intent was to give each party a thread.

OMG that "Great Schlep" video is HYSTERICAL.
Reply to this
Hysterical? I thought it was disgusting. Anyone who plays the black man's "supercircumcised" card as a reason to vote for someone for President is seriously disturbed.
Obama called John McCain "Tim", then "Jim" 2x. Obama's attempt at coziness by calling McCain John most of the time, it was rude. If he can't even get the name of his opponent right, how can we have trust in Obama to lead this country? McCain looks at Putin and sees KGB in his eyes. That's the kind of awareness I want in a President.
Reply to this
He may have called him Tim and Jim but he mostly called him John WHILE HE WAS LOOKING AT HIM. McCain didn't look at Obama once the entire night. Even after the moderater told him to address OBama...he still refused. I don't know about you, but people that don't look me in the eyes when talking to me make me really nervous.

Both candidates made mistakes on names.
Although neither candidate impressed me with their answers on the economy, what concerned me was John McCain's proposal of a spending freeze on all but military spending. I personally do not believe that such an idea will help in these difficult economic times. That now has me leaning more towards voting for Obama.

Yesterday, Barack Obama blew up the bailout meeting at the
White House, causing members of Congress to leave in a
shouting match without a deal in what amounted to a
political ambush of John McCain and Republicans.
Of course, Democrats are blaming everything on McCain and
House Republicans, but the truth is Obama ruined the meeting.

I believe the that we should stop throwing around the blame and the bull if things are going to change we need to work together without judgement we all want the same things for ourselves and our families - health and homes if we are to have them we need to have change and that means Obama. I will vote for change from the small town to the great big global village. We need to improve our choices in education and environmental spending if we are to have anything to pass on to our children and grandchildren. Rock the Vote!

Patriot,
Sticking behind oBAMo is ANTI AMERICAN and not a patriot.
Reply to this
Thinking that being for the candidate of one of our major parties is anti-American is against everything America stands for.

Never said I was for Obama. I'm for neither. If Ron Paul was running I would be voting for him, but unfortunately he didn't have enough funds to run for President. THAT is the real crime in this whole thing. Now I'm forced to decide between a basketball player and an elite....both of which I personally despise.

I think it's interesting that McCain says he can look Putin in the eye, but completely avoids looking at Obama. No matter, Obama will soon be President. (: yay. Thanks Edie, I thought so too!
Jeff, Thanks , I don't know maybe they should go under the Presidential Election Heading...just a suggestion...

Now see that? We agree on Dr. Paul. Therefore you must reasonably understand that McCain is far closer in position to Paul than Obama.

Then you must want change for the worse. Higher taxes, a record of combined reckless spending and earmarks between him and Biden, corrupt and nefarious political allegiances - Acorn, Ayers, Retzco (the fact that I can compile a short list off the top of my head is disturbing). Didn't Obama's flip flop on nuclear plants and offshore drilling since a few weeks ago bother you just a tad? It should. McCain has the record to back up independent voting, McCain has the knowledge and the experience and the demeanor we need to keep America safe. Your house and health care aren't worth a darn if you are beholden to the government to keep that roof over your head or tell you which doctor you must use.

That's why this year's vote is so important. I was never one to choose between the "lesser of 2 evil's". I like to pick the candidate most suitable to run the country. I just don't see a suitable candidate to choose from. So what do I do? Don't like McCain, don't like Obama, despise Palin, and think Biden is a buffoon. Maybe I'll do a write-in and vote for George Carlin....

Patriot,
You must pick the lesser of two evils.
If oBAMo wins then this country will be lead by the evil...the messenger of the Anti Christ.
Look at who is supporting this messenger. Those who want change? What kind of change? This is a great country. Anyone can come here and make a living. Yes, it is difficult at some times but even those that could not afford a home were given the opportunity to buy a home and now the government is going to bail them out!

Oh puhleez stop the anti-christ crap/drama, didn't McCain give us enough drama last week? What a fabulicious job he did racing back to Washington to "help" the economy. He is as far from presidential as you can get - we do not need McCain's erratic, tactic driven decision-making in the white house. Lest I forget about Ms Palin, her "verbage" is even worse than Bush! Can anyone make sense of her non-answers to Couric? We need a statesman as President, OBAMA '08

Why do you bother wasting your time answering someone that calls Obama the anti-Christ? Someone that writes or repeats that garbage is a mental midget that doesn't deserve a reasoned response.
The facts are there for everyone to see and hopefully the election will be on those facts rather then anything the right wingnuts can throw on the wall hoping it sticks.
We are worse off now then we were 8 years ago in almost every measure. McCain offers more of the same and from the looks of his jumping from one stunt to another a much more erratic version of the Bush years. The man may call himself a maverick, but the reality is he is a 90% Bush crony.
The trickle down deregulation policies that have us in this fine mess are not what are going to get us out of it. Putting McCain and Palin in office will just continue the downward trend we have been on for the past 8 years.

Shame on you for referring to oBAMo as a basketball player...isn't that a little racists???

I don`t know does the "Chosen One" Play Basketball?

Obama is a basketball player. He played in school and still plays pick-up games with friends. He loves the NBA and plays bball because he loves it. And NO it's not racist. You must be thinking that way though....so shame on you!

Last Wednesday, McCain called for the bailout bill to be posted to the Internet. Here it is: http://www.latimes.com/media/acrobat/2008-09/42631254.pdf
Funny, Obama didn't suggest that...hmmmm.

The week before McCain thought the economy was fundamentally sound.
Funny you didn't mention that . . . hmmmm.
