No more canned I put the plane on eBay, we all no she didn't sell it on eBay and lost 600K for the state when she finally sold the plane.

No more canned I said no thanks to that Bridge to nowhere, we all know she was for the bridge until she was against it and she made damn sure she kept the money.

No more canned I am against earmarks, we all know she hired lobbyists for Alaska and Wasilla and made sure Alaska got more gov't dollars per resident then any other state.

No more canned I know more about energy because my state produces 20% of America's energy, we all know Alaska produces 3%-4% of America's energy.

Please Gov Palin speak freely America needs to know that you are truly a political calculation that is a single 72 year old heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Ah, it amazes me the 'canned' talking points from the Democrats you are using to attack Sarah Palin.

She did put the jet on Ebay, and eventually sold it using an auctioneer.

She was not for the bridge. If you knew anything about Federal Earmarks, you would know how the process works. Sen Stevens was GOING to bring Alaska the $. She properly diverted the funds to REAL needs of Alasaka, not to reward Steven's buddies on the bridge project.

If you work in local government, you are competing in the process for your government as it is structured. What do you think 'grants' are? Should local governments no apply for grants? She didn't make the system, but only sought to protect her constituents, as any local mayor would do? I guess Bayville should look for grant money?

She has stated, Alasaka has 20% of the energy RESERVES of the nation. Stop the spin ok? Alasak was brought into the union for its gas, oil, and natural resources. That is why there is a state of Alasaka. Thanks to her negotiation efforts with Big Oil and Canada, a new natural gas pipeline will be built to bring more to the lower 48. She got Big Oil to pay her state MORE in revenues (it is their resources) and returned an additional $1,200 to each resident by reducing the gas tax.

Enough with the agism. Yes, we know McCain is 72. He survived 5 years in Hanoi Hilton, don't expect him to keel over in the White House.

She WAS for the bridge no matter how many times you say or print she wasn't. Plenty of video on the web of the Gov in debates stating that she was for the bridge, watch them for yourself.

She has stated Alaska produced 20% of the nations energy before she stated Alaska produced 20% of the oil we use before she stated, exactly what is it she is stating now about her energy expertise it is hard to follow the ever changing story line?

    From fact check.org

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin sat down with ABC News' Charlie Gibson for an interview, part of which aired Sept. 11. In the exchange, the Alaska governor misstated a basic fact about her state's energy production:

Palin: Let me speak specifically about a credential that I do bring to this table, Charlie, and that's with the energy independence that I've been working on for these years as the governor of this state that produces nearly 20 percent of the U.S. domestic supply of energy, that I worked on as chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, overseeing the oil and gas development in our state to produce more for the United States.

It's simply untrue that Alaska produces anything close to 20 percent of the U.S. "energy supply," a term that is generally defined as energy consumed. That category includes power produced in the U.S. by nuclear, coal, hydroelectric dams and other means – as well as all the oil imported into the country.

Palin would have been correct to say that Alaska produces just over 14 percent of all the oil produced in the U.S., leaving out imports and leaving out other forms of power. According to the federal government's Energy Information Administration, Alaskan wells produced 263.6 million barrels of oil in 2007, or 14.3 percent of the total U.S. production of 1.8 billion barrels.

But Alaskan production accounts for only 4.8 percent of all the crude oil and petroleum products supplied to the U.S. in 2007, counting both domestic production and imports from other nations. According to EIA, the total supply was just over 5.5 billion barrels in 2007.

Furthermore, Palin said "energy," not "oil," so she was actually much further off the mark. According to EIA, Alaska actually produced 2,417.1 trillion BTUs [British Thermal Units] of energy in 2005, the last year for which full state numbers are available. That's equal to just 3.5 percent of the country's domestic energy production.

And according to EIA analyst Paul Hess, that would calculate to only "2.4 percent of the 100,368.6 trillion BTUs the U.S. consumes."

Palin didn't make clear whether she was talking about Alaska's share of all the energy produced in the U.S. or all the energy consumed here. Either way, she was wrong.

During her speech at the Republican National Convention, Gov. Palin said that she put the jet purchased by Alaska's former governor up for sale as an example of her attempts at ethics reform:

Palin, Sept. 3: I came to office promising major ethics reform to end the culture of self-dealing. And today, that ethics reform is a law. While I was at it, I got rid of a few things in the governor's office that I didn't believe our citizens should have to pay for. That luxury jet was over-the-top. I put it on eBay.

John McCain, however, took the claim a step further just days after Palin's speech, suggesting that Palin had not only sold the plane on eBay, but made money on the deal as well. At a campaign stop in Wisconsin on Sept. 5, McCain said, "You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was acquired by her predecessor and sold it on eBay — and made a profit!" But that wasn't the case.
Palin was referring to a Westwind II jet that had been purchased by former Alaska Gov. Frank Murkowski. According to the Anchorage Daily News, Murkowski purchased it in 2005 for his traveling needs, and other purposes, despite objections from state officials and the public that it was an unnecessary expense. The jet cost the state more than $62,000 in quarterly payments.

Palin made selling the unpopular jet a priority during her campaign for governor in 2006. After defeating Murkowski in the Republican primary and then winning the general election, Gov. Palin went ahead with plans to auction off the plane. She announced her decision to sell the jet on eBay on Dec. 12, 2006, in a press release, which cited Alaska's "successful" use of the Web site to sell other things previously, including other aircraft and a ferry.

    Going Once...Twice...Sold?

After attempts to sell the plane on the online auction site failed to produce the desired result, the state turned to Turbo North Aviation, an aircraft dealing company, to find a buyer. The New York Times reported that there was "one serious" potential buyer who responded to the Internet listing, but according to Alaska's director of administrative services for the Public Safety Department, the deal fell through. The jet was eventually purchased by Larry Reynolds, a businessman of Valdez, Alaska. But the state didn't make a profit; instead, it lost money on the deal. According to news reports and a release from Palin, Reynolds only paid $2.1 million for the jet, several hundred thousand dollars less than the $2.7 million Murkowski originally paid for it in 2005, and still less than the nearly $2.5 million price tag the Anchorage Daily News reported that Robert Heckman, owner of Turbo North Aviation, had suggested as an asking price for the jet.

It's worth noting that during her retelling of the situation during her convention speech, Palin didn't actually say that she "sold" the plane on eBay. She only said that she "put it on eBay." That's correct - it was on, not sold

Citizens Against Govt Waste Release Annual Congressional Ratings

On August 27th, the non-partisan non-profit watchdog group Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) released their ratings for the voting year 2007. Since 1991, CCAGW has examined roll-call votes to separate the taxpayer advocates in Congress from those who favor wasteful programs and pork-barrel spending.

CCAGW rated 100 key votes in the House. In the Senate, 35 key votes were rated, including votes to secure a one-year adjustment for the alternative minimum tax (AMT), ethics and lobbying reform, and earmark-related amendments.

Some key points from the report:

    * Scores for the presidential and vice presidential candidates: McCain with a perfect 100% this year (88% lifetime), Obama 10% this year (18% lifetime), Biden 0% this year (22% lifetime). McCain was not eligible for “Taxpayer Super Hero“ status because he only voted on 11 of the 35 measured pieces of legislation, but is a “Taxpayer Hero“ based on his high lifetime score.
    * 3 members of the House of Representatives scored a perfect 100%, earning them the title of “Taxpayer Super Hero“. All 3 were Republicans (Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), and F. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.))
    * The highest Democrat in the House was Jim Cooper of TN with a score of 69%
    * In the Senate, nobody scored perfect. The three highest cores were all Republicans though, tied at 97% (Richard Burr (R-N.C.), Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), and John Ensign (R-Nev.))
    * Highest Dem in the Senate was Russ Feingold, with a score of 34%
    * On the low end, 2 Democrats scored a 0% rating in the House, while 13 Senators earned that dismal score (all Democrats), including Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Majority Leader Harry Reid.
    * Lowest scoring Republicans were Representative Ray Hood, from Illinois, with 11% score, and Olympia Snow, the senator from Maine, with a 17% score

Look at the candidate's records. Anyone who thinks Obama and Biden are going to "change" their abyssmal representation of WE THE PEOPLE is living in a dream world.

You see the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Well I have a pretty good idea of trickle down economics and deregulation and GOP rule and neocon foreign policy.

I've seen some of the policies over the past 28 years and many of them at their zenith during the past 8 years.

So if I believed multiple wars to be fought, diminished influence on the world stage and economic meltdowns not seen since the Great Depression were the path the country should stay on I would pull the lever for More of the Same.

Since none of those choices are palatable to me I won't be pulling the lever for someone that voted with our current President 95% of the time. No matter if he was against earmarks and pork barrel spending.

All the pork in the budget doesn't total 20 billion dollars, the economic policies pushed by his economic guru cost the taxpayers at least $700 billion this week alone. The neocon foreign policies he favors cost $10 billion a month in Iraq alone.

Question - if this group is non-partisan, why did it endorse John McCain?

From ccagwpac.org (its own site), as well as Reuters and Business Wire Feb 1, 2008:

WASHINGTON -- The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGWPAC) today endorsed Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) for the office of President of the United States.

"Senator McCain is not just a war hero, he is a taxpayer hero. He has fought government waste, fraud, and abuse in Washington for 26 years. He has never requested a pork-barrel project. There is nothing the big-spending politicians in Washington, D.C. fear more than a McCain presidency," said CCAGWPAC Chairman Tom Schatz.

And from its website council for. CAGW. org:

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) is the lobbying arm of CAGW.

    And from ccagwpac.org:
The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGWPAC) attempts to influence the outcome of elections to public office as part of the organization’s mission to promote fiscal responsibility and eliminate waste, fraud and abuse at all levels of the federal government. CCAGWPAC closely monitors voting records and reviews candidate questionnaires to determine which candidates will best represent the taxpayers.

CCAGWPAC does not endorse a candidate for every congressional race because politicians often talk about fiscal responsibility but many fail to follow up with meaningful action. CCAGWPAC carefully scrutinizes candidates and works to elect only those that share the views of our membership.

CCAGWPAC is a voluntary, nonprofit, unincorporated, political committee that is connected to CCAGW, a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to eliminating waste and inefficiency in government through nonpartisan public education programs and lobbying activities.

    - This would only be a real story if she was saying that she was against the bridge as the bridge was being built. A spineless (Obama-ish) type Governor would have not stop the bridge whining that the Federal Government originally meant that the money be used to build the bridge. Before Congress stripped the earmark notes, the money was allotted only for bridge building. When Palin became Governor the money was already in the State coffer. For a person who has been claimed to be so for the bridge, there is not much bridge to show.

The Keating Five includes John McCain (R-AZ) (From Wikipedia)

The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators, Alan Cranston (D-CA), Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ), John Glenn (D-OH), John McCain (R-AZ), and Donald W. Riegle (D-MI), were accused of improperly aiding Charles H. Keating, Jr., chairman of the failed Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of an investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLB.

After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee determined in 1991 that three had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB in its investigation of Lincoln Savings. Senators John Glenn and John McCain were were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment".

Does anyone read anything other than mass spam emails? Does anyone want the facts?

From the Chicago Tribune August 27,2008:

The University of Illinois at Chicago on Tuesday released more than 1,000 files detailing the activities of an education reform group in which both Barack Obama and former 1960s radical William Ayers played key roles.

The release of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge documents turned the sterile special collections room at the university's Daley library into a media frenzy. Television crews hovered at the room's entrance. Librarians scurried to copying machines to fulfill the requests of a roomful of reporters. Two security officers stood guard.

On a typical day, one or two scholars may conduct research there. The library director laughed when asked whether it has had security before.

A partial examination of the documents did not reveal anything startling about the link between Obama, the Democratic presidential contender, and Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground, a Vietnam-era anti-war group that claimed responsibility for several bombings. Ayers, who spent years in hiding, is now a UIC education professor.

The interest in the documents comes as supporters of Republican presidential candidate John McCain have questioned Obama's ties to Ayers. The Obama campaign this week countered by airing television commercials suggesting that McCain is stuck in the '60s.

The UIC records show that Obama and Ayers attended board meetings, retreats and at least one news conference together as the education program got under way. The two continued to attend meetings together during the 1995-2001 operation of the program, records show.

At a Democratic debate this year when the association between Obama and Ayers was raised, Obama said: "This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood. . . . He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis." Obama called Ayers' past radical acts detestable.

But critics note that Obama visited Ayers' home for a meeting at the start of his first state Senate bid in the mid-'90s.

The UIC records showed that Ayers was instrumental in securing the $50 million education grant to reform Chicago Public Schools, part of a national initiative funded by the late Ambassador Walter Annenberg. . After Chicago was awarded the money, Obama served as president of the Challenge's board of directors, the fiscal arm that disbursed the grants to schools and raised private matching funds. Ayers participated in a second entity known as the Chicago School Reform Collaborative, the operational arm that worked with the grant recipients . . . .

Take the time to learn about the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 and how the Gramm-Leach-Biley Act (yes that is Phil Gramm who was part of the McCain campaign early on), in 1999, repealed part of the Glass-Steagall Act allowing commercial banks to own financial companies and to underwrite mortgage backed securities. It allowed insurance companies to get into the banking industry and allowed for Citibank to be bought by Travelers, etc. It also allowed for the present situation. The vote for passing the act was along party lines - Republicans were for it.

      >>>Libertarians for Obama?

At Freedom Communications, the media company founded by the tenacious libertarian publisher R. C. Hoiles, which is still largely family-owned and freedom-oriented, they had an internal lunch debate on presidential politics the other day. According to Orange County Register columnist Frank Mickadeit, their corporate philosopher Tibor Machan advocated voting for the Libertarian Party. But the company’s CEO, Scott Flanders, had a different view:

But there was a hush as Flanders reasoned that Obama is the best candidate to work on four top libertarian reforms: 1) Iraq withdrawal, 2) restoring the separation of church and state; 3) easing off victimless crimes such as drug use; 4) curtailing the Patriot Act.

As it happens, a few days earlier I had talked to a leading libertarian writer, who told me that he supposed he’d vote for Obama on the basis of the Iraq issue.<<<

McCain is willing to put aside partisan politics, put his campaign on hold and solve this financial crisis. Obama? He'll be multi-tasking on the golf course in Florida and accusing McCain of pulling a "prank". I want a grown-up and leader for President, not someone with the maturity of an 8 year old.

Lisa you are a hoot. Don't listen to Rush then you must be getting your marching orders from that bastion of foolish diatribes the Big Kahuna himself Bill O. Are you a faithful listener of the No Spin Zone Lisa? Here's a little hint for Lisa most of what comes out of Bill O's mouth is not true.

A grown up as President and yet you tout McCain/Palin in every post?

McCain, he of the sinking polling numbers, now wants to suspend his campaign for the sake of the country in order to face the crisis in the financial markets. The same McCain that thought the economy was fundamentally sound a week ago. The same McCain that was a deregulator at heart now wants to interject the government into the markets.

Yes Lisa this is a political stunt. He isn't the Chairman or on the relevant committees negotiating the bailout and what form it will take. He will not be in any conference between the House and Senate to work out the bailout.

All McCain's being in Washington will do is interject Presidential politics into a negotiation that is working its way through the Capitol.

But we have seen the McCain campaign jump from one position to another daily if not hourly this past week so watching him jump to another political stunt is really not that surprising.

And you want to talk about flip flop? Does Obama's position on "the surge" ring any bells?
