It does not seem to be financially responsible of our politicians during our struggling economy to burden our local residents with such an increase at this time. My opinion is there is an undercurrent of dissapproval in this Village because people see what is going on here and do not like it. It is their right to see it, feel it and express it. It is also their right to run against the TIP party, however no one is. Why?? People are afraid to go up against the TIP party period. That is the answer.
Despite how you go up against them, whether it be by write in like abetterbayville.com (and a few trustees who did it years ago an won!) Or whether it is by following the proper election protocal like Residents Fist, The Citizens Party, The Family Party as listed in the most recent letter or by activism like BRACT, the TIP party and the current administration ALWAYS responds with the same message:
"These people are just trying to cause problems." Their message is strongly "If you are not with US you are wrong, or unneighborly or crazy or should leave."
There have been plenty of people to voice dissent over the past years. These people are the ones I am sure Vicki is speaking to in her letter calling them vindictive and polarizing. These people are not either of those things. They are citizens who have every RIGHT to stand up and be heard. It may not be the majority rule, but they are allowed to be heard. Those people should be commended, becasue even thought they are in the minority (it appears by voting standards,) they have been heard and MANY changes have taken place in this Village over the past few years especially.
This election is over and it is a mute point to discuss it. JULY 5th when the new board is inducted, please show up and support your elected officials. Then come the next month and the next month and the month after that to all the meetings the Village holds. Doug wants to hold more meetings and I think he is correct. Lets make those meetings worth while for the trustees and him. Let's be heard. You do not have to hold office or run for office to effect change.
You do not have to get along with or vote for or like the people in office to work along side with them and put change into effect. Reply to this

Reality is I do not have the time to moderate all of the comments on a daily basis. I also receive e-mail complaints from other users on these individuals. In the near future, if they cant play nice they will be blocked. Hope you realize my dilemma. Any suggestions? Reply to this

Whether they are agents of change, or agents of status quo, curriculum s attempt to prepare students for responsible citizenship. International curriculum s cannot overlook the fact that students reside within national boundaries, often for many years. How can a curriculum be relevant to the nation-state in which its students live, or to which they will one day return, while still preparing them for WORLD CITIZENSHIP? And how can this be accomplished when students come from a startling number of societies?

IB only helps students to see the world from a new political mindset and that is wrong. I saw several articles which address those points in a different way, but nonetheless, I think the fact that this program is OPTIONALfor students (and parents) carries an awful lot of weight. I see you've got all of the IB rhetoric down pat, especially the claims of "critical thinking" and "global perspective". What you fail to understand, is that in LVHS, IB has ELIMINATED AP, with the exception of 3 courses, two of which are in 9th & 10th Grades. Therefore, the only CHOICE is IB or Regents. That's not a choice.
LVCSD managed to nudge its way up the Newsweek List by forcing 74 kids into IB English, SS and SL Math Studies - undeniably the easiest of all IB Maths and in NO WAY a college-level course. LVCSD is using IB to gain recognition on Mathews' vapid List while dumbing down our HS. Mathews is a paid media shill for IBO.
I don't want to hear this nonsense about have I, a 54 year old woman sat through IB classes. It's a strawman argument. I can read the cost of the fees, I can read the speeches by IBO's mouthpieces and yes, I got Howard Zinn's A Peoples History of the United States pulled from LVHS as the primary textbook for HoA.
George Bush endorsed funding to train MATH AND SCIENCE teachers in AP and IB. He NEVER endorsed the IB "programme". George Bush also misguidedly rejoined UNESCO after Ronald Reagan withdrew the U.S. Even Clinton didn't rejoin UNESCO. George Bush was no Conservative. Complacency my ass. Why don't you go and pick on the people in this village who ALWAYS seem to be around, not working, and NOT contributing anything to society. You MUST be one of those people, right? I loathe people like you who get off on picking on the working class.....especially ones that wear a uniform. And if you are a working person, do YOU take a break and get something to eat? Should I call your boss and tell him that I don't think you should eat? You're a sorry excuse for a human being. And I would also bet my life that if you or someone you know DID get summonsed for not cleaning off your sidewalks that you would be the 1st person to complain about it. Ignorance can also be defined as someone who avoids questions because they don't have a good answer. So I'll ask again: Would you, or would you not complain if you or a loved one got summonsed for not having their sidewalks shoveled? I'll take it a step further and ask: What if the person that was summonsed was a 90 year old female with osteoporosis with no children or relatives and who couldn't afford to pay someone to do it? Do you think SHE should get a summons? Could you imagine the backlash this poor guy and the village would hear. The media would be all over it. This isn't NYC. Stop trying to drum up your own blizzard drama here in Bayville at the expense of a code enforcer who probably has a family and is trying to earn an honest dollar. You know what I say? I say let the code enforcer go get a turkey on rye and maybe on his way back to the village, stop at the IGA to pick up diapers for her wife before he gets home. He deserves it after having to deal with pretentious snobs like yourself.

It also seems from your posting that you encourge thaking breaks to go shopping and to do other erands for your family while on your boses time. Now I do not mean on your alloted time that your employer grants you. If you find it fine to steal time from your boss while he or she is paying you for it than the first thing Monday morning go into his or her office and tell them that you are stealing time from them and doing it on your paid working hours. I do not think you would do that for fear of being fired on the spot. Now I own my own company with over 12 employees and I also was a hard working person that worked for the company that I now own and if one of my employees stole time from me I would fire them on the spot. Not because I have no feelings or compansion but if they needed time they could ask me first and not steal it from me. I do not think that this subject needs any more space on this blog. Fair enough. But remember, you can't have it both ways. If someone you knew was summonsed for not shoveling off their sidewalks, you can't get upset if nothing is being done about the sidewalks that aren't shoveled. People in this village have a tendency to complain about one side of one issue and when the axe falls, they don't like which way it fell. You can't have it both ways. It's just the way of the world. Instead of worrying about one little Code Enforcement officer, how about complaining about our union teachers wearing their black union t-shirts and their demonstrations of malcontent? The "average" homeowner in Bayville is forking over $5,000 a year to our schools in school taxes. Many of those teachers are making in excess of $120,000 + benefits/pension for 182 days of work. Yet no one seems to care that they are holding your children hostage to their greed. It's time for you to focus on what matters - the children and their ability to afford to stay in Bayville and surrounding areas in the future.

Why should the elders here on disability have to pay for your brats who cannot walk a block to school without taking a bus. You have the worst real estate agency ever, unless it is a million dollar home on Centre Island they could care less about your 400,000 hm on Mountain Ave. They put up flowers in the spring in beautiful places but then never water them. They want to widen streets into town but then let every loud motorcyclist use those roads to litter everywhere and bring low classes here. They build an ausement park for families next to an hourly rental broken down motel. I mean am I the only one who isn't blind here folks? This place is going down hill fast and now I just heard that there are over 100 homes up for sale and the rentals they have here are not legal, most converted garages that rent for $1500.00 a month, this is a travesty! I can not understand why there is so much talk about the school budget and no one is up in arms about the 8.5% increase that the village has approved for our village taxes. Put the 2 increases together and were looking at over a 12% increase in our taxes this year. It does not seem to be financially responsible of our politicians during our struggling economy to burden our local residents with such an increase at this time. I guess the tax payer party should be glad no one is running against them cause I know I would vote for anyone else but them. They should call themselves the taxing party.

Does anyone have any info. on this? And can anyone run against Doug Watson, as far as I know that the Mayor has been grooming Doug to take over isn't there supppose to be a public announcement made? I don't want to vote for someone who is going to raise our taxes we pay enough with the school taxes going up every year!

It seems to me that many people have forgotten that the current mayor hasn't raised taxes in 12+ years. I am certainly not justifying any tax increase (who would?) but there is obviously more to things here than people know. I don't think that a mayor who hasn't been raising taxes would suddenly decide to do this on a whim. Does anyone attend the meetings and know the reason behind this?
It seems bold of the "better" people to make a statement that they will "repeal" the tax hike. I wonder if they know of the financial situation of the village or they are just making the claim to curry favor and possible votes.

The last Village Newsletter stated the yax increase. It was written in the center right side page. Yes it is true they have not raised in years, however with the school increase at 3% and the village at 8% that is a 12% jump in a really bad economy.
I heard Doug Watson does not own the auto body shop anymore and is unemployed? Anyone know anything about that? Might be a rumor, but being he is the only one to vote for...I would like to know the truth.

You, Soundview and the village, in your combined infinite wisdoms, believing that that is OK, is why are village is a mess. We close our eyes to abandoned buildings, left for the children to explore, people living in their vehicles and then wonder why our business district sucks. In other towns their THRIVING business districts absorb much of the tax burden. THINK before you post.

Old Timer,
I agree Vicki knew how to run this Village well. But Vicki is retiring isn't she? Doug Watson is running now. He is a different person isn't he? He does not hold a candle to Vickie's abilities as a politician.
Saying there should be a choice is not putting anyone down for what they have done. I just would love a choice.
I am scared for the next four years in this Village. The budget is already in deficit according to their newsletter. I do not have much faith in Doug Watson. Hopefully the trustees will help him out.

I am not worried about Doug Watson at all. Serving many years as trustee will give him the background he needs to be successful. He is a very personable, well-spoken man who has been a political and community figure in Bayville for many years.
There has been many choices over the years other than the TIP party, but people here seem to want them. Someone posted before that it was "cool" to be against them and I agree. There has been a wave of younger people against them and it is noticeable in certain aspects of the community.
As for the "better" group, to me they are a bunch of nameless soup stirrers looking to make the Mayor's last few weeks in office hell. Notice how they haven't revealed their identities and are digging up stuff from over 10 years ago. People have run against the party since all of this stuff went down and they are still in office today.

Jen,
There were no signs that the road was closed today, which would have been helpful. We do have two fields down that way and games going on at both all morning. A little communication between trustees, Mayor, Cops and organizers of the run would have eleviated the hour and a half WH Drive was closed.\
I think the 5K is a great thing but the runners should have been given their medals on the beach or in the picnic area instead of the entrance way to WH beach which was a hazard for all driving in and out. Just a thought for next year.

I totally agree about the medals. In November they did it on the concrete area by the restrooms and it worked out much better! I could also see a sign or two indicating the road closure for next year to be helpful. However, was it a solid 1 1/2 hours the road was completely closed? I know the run only utilized the first half of the road for the beginning of the race. Perhaps next year they could leave a lane open and only leave one side of the road closed for the race. I thought thats what they were gonna do this year.

Name was published in town crier yesterday along with other stuff like false promises and dog adoptions.
Let's start with the website, shall we:
"Updates and additonial topics will be added to this website every day" - There certainly hasn't been, so first lie told. Three already-published articles (one from 13 yrs. ago) hardly seem like good info. to me.
Now to the town crier, which gets even crazier -
"I will legalize skateboards, in-line skates, scooters, gopeds and bicycles" - Are they illegal? Wow, who knew you couldn't ride a bicycle in Bayville. I see many arrests on the horizons
"I will limit the use of leaf blowers" - Why does that matter?
I am all for change, if it's the right kind of change. This seems to me like the very WRONG kind of change. I don't like the whole not-reavealing-my-name thing or the fact that she didn't go about trying to be elected normally by getting signatures. It's just very fishy to me. She attacked the teachers from the start too which seemed way offline for a village election.

Wow, I just checked out the Bayville Village website and researched the Village code for skateboards, scooters, gopeds, in-line skates and bicycles. They are outlawed. Thank you Taxpayers Party. If you get busted, they confiscate your stuff and you have to pay a fine and a storage fee. When did this crap happen? Can you imagine that we have such a law on the books. Check it out yourself under Bayville Village Code. The Taxpayers Party are too much. I have kids and this is an outrage.

Check out the Taxpayers Party flyers. They do not even have a return address on them. How does the post office allow them to get away with that? all you have to do is call the Village Hall to get in touch with the Mayor or the Board of Trustees...Did you want them to put their home phone numbers in the flyers, so all the crazies can call them at all hours of the night with their complaints???? Great Last letter from the Mayor.
I find the abetterbayville.com a scary approach to a write n ballot, which by the way is completely legal! However, I find the latest letter from the TIP party equally disturbing.
This talk about polarizing a Village?? We do still live in America right?? There still is a RIGHT to two party rule correct? We do still have the RIGHT to run against people based on differeing ideas right? The language in this letter is scary and almost supports one party rule. When everyone is told to think and do the same thing in the opinion of one rule...correct me if I am wrong but this does not sound like democracy, it sounds like communism.
Bayville, our choice was taken away the day people were afraid to put their name on a ballot.

Get your facts straight. And do me a favor and call Village Hall. Ask them how much our taxes were raised this year. You will die when you hear their answer. Please, just do it. Do it for yourself. I heard the same thing tigger that she parked her cars everywhere on the block and the neighbors petitioned for no parking signs. like i said, i am all for change if it's the right kind. this lady is certainly not what bayville needs.
also, people keep writing that the TIP party is promoting communism, that they control everything and they seem to be forgetting that they have been elected by the people of our town. other parties have run against them and they lost fair and square. it's the people of the town electing them into office.
Reply to this
Yes, all elected officials have won their own elections and deserve to be there. They also, have put their names out there which is not easy to do, but much easier to do when you run under the TIP party.
There were times they were uncontested ofer the past 20 years, as they are now.
"These people are just trying to cause problems."
Their message is strongly
"If you are not with US you are wrong, or unneighborly or crazy or should leave."

Let's get back to the election tomorrow. The puppet Taxpayers Party raised our taxes and Better is going to repeal it. Well I recently received my tax bill and I would love it to be reduced by 8.5%. The puppet Taxpayers Party built an antenna tower and Better is going to remove it. This is a no brainer.......write in vote is the way to go. ABetterBayville all the way.

I agree, we cannot suffer another day with TIP, raising taxes,a cell tower, especially when the economy is in the dumps. Not another day! Vote in someone new, we deserve it.

Do you honestly think that the betterbayville woman knows what she is doing? Do you really believe that she is the right change for Bayville? I bet she has never even seen the Village's budget. Did you actually see that website? You'd be voting the crazy vote that's for sure and we'd suffer for 4 years. Why don't you ask her neighbors what she is like? I wish one of them would put something up here.

It appears, from the scope of this blog, that this woman from betterbayville is better change than what you have in office now. I did see the website and from all of the documents, I now see how deep the upper crust is in league with our politicians and finds ways to get around the law. Also, it's amusing how you are anonymous yourself, yet wish her neighbors would come on and speak about her. Meanwhile, you're most likely a neighbor hiding behind an anonymous tag. As always, brave words are found from people who hide behind their keyboards on the internet. Bravo. Hopefully Bayville will make a change in this election.

You do know that the number is only based on the ratio of # of seniors and how many are sitting for IB classes. It doesn't matter if it were AP or IB. The bottom line is that LV is forcing kids to sign up for college level/prep classes even though it may not be in the child's best interest. The number isn't based on exam grades, measurable units of success or anything. It's how many "heads" are in a class. So, the same student could be registered for 6 IB classes and would be counted 6 times. It's a farce and no accurate measure of success of any child.

He disavows because your accusations are incorrect. This is not a biased blog. We just have a few users who consistently spew vomitus and promote spiteful and antagonistic exchanges diluting the original intent of the thread. They will be blocked going forward, no administrative reasoning is needed, this is a free service. Yes Lisa you do fall into that category more often than not and you are the only one that has been intentionally blocked in the past. Its a shame because I do feel you bring value and interesting points to light.
I’m getting ready to launch a new platform for the blog and I want it cleaned up and a place where people can come discuss the issues at hand without being attacked called names, etc. Your last post is a perfect example, what did I do to you? Anyway, the cleanup is long overdue. I am looking forward to having registered users and the ability to moderate certain individual users since most of the participants do not need moderation. You never cease to amaze me with your arrogance. Keep it up and I’ll clip your wings again, only takes a second. BTW, the Leader is surviving without you.

I agree KM but there are certain individuals on here that constantly reap havoc and do not play nice. I am completely for an open forum. Far from a power trip; how many times do you have to ask a grown up to grow up before you intervene?? If I edit the inappropriate content they claim censorship. Reality is I do not have the time to moderate all of the comments on a daily basis. I also receive e-mail complaints from other users on these individuals. In the near future, if they cant play nice they will be blocked. Hope you realize my dilemma. Any suggestions?

PARENTS HAVE RIGHTS.COM FROM IB!
When considering the “international-mindedness” goal of the IB and other curriculums found in international schools, a number of difficult questions arise. One concerns the notion of citizenship and its relationship to the socio-political milieu not just of the school, but of the society to which students belong.

I have come to the conclusion that there are 2 different types of people who likes to complain about the IB program. Number 1 is the cheapskate who is bent out of shape for having to pay extra taxes and number 2 is the person that has absolutely no life outside of being a pot stirring yenta.......

I suggest ALL OF YOU read this article about IB and how they are openly advocating that we 'Tear Up the 11th Commandment — National Sovereignty' in the video at around 4:14... that was posted on the IBO.org website.
This article is based on the information found right on www.ibo.org's website where they advocate 'themes' that teachers should embed into the curriculum of the International Baccalaureate.
http://www.nhteapartycoalition.org/tea/2010/06/19/ib-teaches-we-should-tear-up-national-sovereignty/
I don't know what a yenta is, but I do know this: paying money to communists in Geneva to control my school is NOT local control and it's unconstitutional. Demanding we 'tear up sovereignty' is treason.
Get these criminals out of our school system NOW.

This website is full of loonies. I hope it doesn't accurately represent the makeup of this town.
To whoever believes that those who live in Bayville must have three generations living here in order to have an opinion on anything... What is wrong with you? A resident is a resident and if they live here, they vote here.
To those up in arms about religion in the classroom. It is and always shall be illegal to teach a religion in a public school. The lessons are simply comparing the literature of the three books. They are in no way meant to sway your child towards any religious belief.
Really, a global education is exactly what the members of this town need, and more for the older generations then the newer ones. Trying reading the posts of the recent high school grads, rather then their parents. They are the ones who attended the classes, and they are the ones who can accurately portray what goes on in them. The few I read felt that this education has benefited them.

Yep only a loon would want 'global education' that teaches kids to ditch the Constitution for the UN's UDHR....
We were teaching languages in the 1950s... and we did not need the commies from the UN to help us do it.

I will admit I am ignorant of many things-but I do know about projection- when one projects his own fear and/or beliefs onto others. The only indoctrination I see and hear is the silly Christian right-wing media people- Glen Beck et al-and followers trying to scare the crap out of people with undocumented nonsense about nearly everything. It is they who have this isolationist for god & country mindset. See-"creationism")Since I am prohibitively old, I remember AP classes fondly, and I do not work and learn well in a cooperative group setting. Things are different today, and I have spoken to quite a few LV student who, after a year of college, have said IB classes helped them enormously. The world is smaller with the web and all, and the answer to all of these dilemmas is knowledge. Learn it from actual scholars instead of talking heads, read everything, revel in the many cultures that exist (tho' I might avoid Somalia these days, and the burka-ing of women)and let's have some delight in human beings, instead of hating everything that is unlike us. Thus my sermon is ended-go in peace.

@dorothy parker: Well Dorothy I agree with you. But this is not about Glenn Beck or anyone else. This is about the true goals and nature of the IB program which, as a teacher or 35 years, I have thoroughly researched. This is not some religious campaign, or isolationist mindset as you are imagining. I had languages, 3 of them, by the time I was in the 8th grade. Math is math whether it's USA, France, or Siberia. IB only helps students to see the world from a new political mindset and that is wrong. Are you for swapping out your Constitutional Republic, one that guarantees your natural born rights, for a one-world totalitarian gov't under the UN, who deems what rights you can and can't have? You are really an "ugly American" as they say, if you don't know the difference. IB teachers are not 'scholars' and in fact, are encouraged not to teach but to stand aside like a teachers aide, and let the kids 'discover' what they need to learn all by themselves. These are the faulty methods that are causing the dumbing down of America and the use of our children as political mules. Is this what you condone? Thinking people will understand what I mean if they have ever questioned something their children brought home from school that just didn't seem right. There is a lot going on that is not right, and IB is one of them.
This is not about hating everything that is not like us, unless of course we are supposed to like communism and servitude and dumbing of our population..
Judging from posts like yours, the dumbing that's already happened unfortunately is coming to fruition for those perpetrating it!

What I don't understand is if the pro IBers are educated then why don't they educate themselves on this program and look at how its intent is to actually "brainwash" the children that are enrolled in the courses???
I mean really...anyone can teach global concepts and teach what the world is about outside of America and how to think outside of the box....do we need to spend millions of tax dollars on a forgein company to do this????

But he's the one who got crucified by the Dems for sayinf that, "He hopes Obama fails."
Now you and I understand what Rush means by that. He hopes that Obama fails to be able to implement all of his social-st destructive policies which if he is SUCCESSFUL in implementing will lead to the total economic and environmental destruction of our country and .gov totalitarianism.
Oh, Bayville blog tip - you can't write out the full word social-st, for some reason it won;t post. I kid you not.

IB mission statement:
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
Did I miss the "Overthrow the tsar" part in this?

incidentally- I do not regret my vote for Obama one bit- I do regret the legacy he was handed by the former admin- and that being what he is judged on. (not the best sentence-sorry)
I was oping there would be some discussion of how to get some things done here in Bayville-which is why I asked about the election- but everywhere I go on this blog, it becomes a forum for haters of positive socail reform (unless it benefits the rich) and complaints about IB. The only thing I don't want to be 'like' is communist and that is what this IB program espouses. It has nothing to do with color.

okay- answers first-
I assumed NH was in New Hampshire since on July 11 Lisa wrote-"Maybe they don't broadcast Rush in NH." I thought Lisa knew NH, and potentially where NH lives. Not a problem being wrong.
Also, NH-show me a question mark, and I will see a question.
What maretial did you post? I saw the ib website on your post. Pls tell me what I missed.
I will say this: I read a long well-written discussion of IB and its negative points vis-a-vis USA at
www.ednews.org/the-international-baccalaureate-">www.ednews.org/the-international-baccalaureate-
curriculum.html
This addressed many of your thoughts in a thoughtful and descriptive way. I saw several articles which address those points in a different way, but nonetheless, I think the fact that this program is OPTIONALfor students (and parents) carries an awful lot of weight.
I also know that in both Constitutional Law and World History AP classes in high school we learned from aglobal perspective- how can a 200 and change year-old country not be seen next to older and more established cultures and governments?
Finally- a question, and I will try to do this myself come fall-has anyone actually looked at books, curriculum, or sat in on any classes at LV Hisgh School? All students spoke to had positive feedback, and enjoyed critical thinking rather than being taught for the test.
A bigger world view would do everyone here some good. As for Obama- give me some examples of evel-doing, so I can answer, and are you sure you don't hate him because he is black-of 1/2 African American-to be correct.
Finally, several publications included this statement, including a different issue of www.ednews.org.
"For the record, former President Bush pushed for the expansion of Advanced Placement and IB programs. He didn’t see anything anti-American in them."
Reply to this
one more thing-sorry
I saw nothing anywhere that propoed we become this:
"Communism is a social structure in which classes are abolished and property is commonly controlled, as well as a political philosophy and social movement that advocates and aims to create such a society."wordnetweb.princeton.edu
I am concerned we are nearly a plutocracy, and would like to see that changed- especially given the recent decision by the Sipreme Court pt allow corporate sponsorship of candidates. We've had enough with Haliburton (Dick Cheney) Blackwater and too more.

If we are nearly a plutocracy you can blame Obama who has been pushing us in that direction on behalf of his handlers such as Soros. YOu apparently don't have a problem with him, Rockefeller, Kissinger, Brzezinski and the rest of the Bilderbergers running the USA thru their puppet Obama?
Also, Bush's opinion means nothing to me because I hate him. He has not likely seen the materials either. You cannot see them unless you pay for them, another way they are kept secret. But I got my hands on some and it's not pretty. Its' junk, bunk and trash!
IB is trash.

well, "Teacher'-you've succeeded at that
Have you ever read one of my posts? Have I said "agree with me" once? In fact I have asked for information and received insults from you.
I have asked if anybody would address a different subject, rather than the endless whining and chest beating of people who know they are right but just can't win.
There are other topics- as I said more than once.
anyone who befriends "Teacher" should be beatified
I shall no more visit this dark place

Well Dorothy, I was waiting for you to comment on that paper I sent you, but apparently you haven't done your homework. I would like your comment on it.

IN fact I'm so nice I'll even post it again. I await your commentary with bated breath.

dorothy parker,
I see you've got all of the IB rhetoric down pat, especially the claims of "critical thinking" and "global perspective".
"I've abandoned free market principles to save the free market":

Guess what George? All you did was set up our current dictator to destroy the free market further, just as he will destroy our public education system further.

I can not understand why there is so much talk about the school budget and no one is up in arms about the 8.5% increase that the village has approved for our village taxes.

It seems that the administrator is running village hall instead of Mayor Dougie.

at "flyonthewall" i have herd that as well. i also herd she gets paid a mighty big salary.

She gets way over $100,000.00 a year. That why our taxes were raised 8.50%, to pay for her and her and her mother

Did you hear that the Fire Company is tearing down the house they paid $550,000 for behind the firehouse to put up a boci ball court and BBQ pit?

I think she does a wonderful job and has now for many years! She knows what she is doing, is always courteous and professional and keeps the Village running like a well oiled machine.

Your mistaken - it was Vicky who ran the village like a well oiled machine.

I would never say a bad word about Vicki-she was a wonderful mayor and very dedicated to this village. You under estimate Maria though. Her and Vicki worked very well together as I am sure she will with our new Mayor!

I agree with you Jen. Vicki was a good mayor.

Can someone tell me why we are paying the code enforcer $23.00 an hour to shop at his leisure in IGA at 10:30 in the morning instead of working????????
Reply to this
Maybe the code enforcer's wife needed him to pick up some milk and bread before he went home. Maybe he was hungry and wanted to get a hero from the deli inside the iga. You see "anonymous " , its people like you who make me sick. How much of your personal money is going into the code enforcer's paycheck, about 10 cents a month maybe? He's a man, not a robot, so show some decency. And no, this is not the code enforcer.......this is just another person who thinks you should go and get another hobby.

Anyone have any idea why it is necessary for The Village to close down Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, AND Jan. 3rd for "New Years Day Observed". What the hell? As if we weren't confused enough by the changes to the Sanitation schedule from all these "holidays", there was still garbage pickup Monday morning after the blizzard, despite a phone call going out from John Venditto saying all garbage pickup in the Town of Oyster Bay was suspended. This Village is really getting ridiculous.

This isn't the first time he has been seen doing food shopping or eating lunch in Glen Cove when he was on Village time. Look at the Village. More than half of the sidewalks were not shoveled. This is his job to oversee them. Your complacency gets me sick. Maybe you should get a hobby.
Reply to this
Complacency my ass.
Go bury your head in the sand at Ransom Beach!
Reply to this
Your sound like a very angry, a very unhapppy and YES a very complacent person. I was asking a question about the code enforcer as why he does his errands on Village time. This is not the first or second time this has happened. For you all your knowldge Mr or Ms KNOW IT ALL I AM the working class.
Remember: Ignorance never settles a question.
You sound like you work for the village
Reply to this
Ignorance can also be defined as someone who avoids questions because they don't have a good answer.
PS: To answer your question. Yes, I am angry.....but definitely NOT complacent. I won't tell you what I do for a living but i would guarantee I have worked harder in one week than you have in your entire life.

If you can't clear a side walk you should not own a home. Those excuses don't work in the city so why should Bayville be any different. As for the code enforcer he is not married. Before you talk get your facts straight and i don't really care what you do for a living and how hard you work. WHO CARES!!!

been reading alot because of the storm and have a small remark for the user named please. It seems that you are a very hard worker and work for someone who pays your salary so that you can help support your family, and that is what it is all about. Only my opinion.

Dear petty people of Bayville,
Instead of worrying about one little Code Enforcement officer, how about complaining about our union teachers wearing their black union t-shirts and their demonstrations of malcontent? The "average" homeowner in Bayville is forking over $5,000 a year to our schools in school taxes. Many of those teachers are making in excess of $120,000 + benefits/pension for 182 days of work. Yet no one seems to care that they are holding your children hostage to their greed. It's time for you to focus on what matters - the children and their ability to afford to stay in Bayville and surrounding areas in the future.
Does LVCSD stand for the Locust Valley Communist School District? Wake up and speak out. Enough is enough.

Give me a break. You are a bunch of cry babies. Nothing you say on this web site will save you from the facts. High taxes, overpaid teachers and your do-nothing attitude that lets the system thrive. Surrender. It's over and you have no say. Just shut up and fork over all the money they make us pay.

Bravo bravo and Kudos to the new administration for FINALLY changing the property tax policy...starting this year they will wait to receive the final tax assessments from the county before sending residents bills. Thus if a property owner is successful in a challenge to their assessment they will pay the correct taxes...not the extra portion in error. In the past our village couldnt deal with the 2 month lapse to adjust their rolls. Finally! Thank you!!!

Bayville will be holding a Special Election this June to fill the Trustee posistion vacated by Doug Watson when he won the Mayoral election.
It is a one year term and that seat will be up for re-election next June 2012.
All interested parties need to contact the Village of Bayville Election official Maria Alfano to find out what they need to do to run.
There are petition deadlines.

The gutless people of Bayville deserve what you get. Now, you have this Watson for your Mayor and he has increased the taxes 20%. The only wealthy people who live here are the ones with kids in school so why dont you make them pay thier school taxes and not tax those who dont. Why should the elders here on disability have to pay for your brats who cannot walk a block to school without taking a bus. Your streets are filthy, you evidently hire blind trashmen who can't see cause they leave half of the trash on the street. You re-model an already nice library, why? It was fine the way it was. You don't let any good businesses into your precious town like Starbucks or a nice gift boutique. You got spoiled by Vickie S cause she never gave herself a pay check in all of those yrs. she was Mayor. Now, you got some guy who evidently has given everyone including himself a healthy raise. You have abandoned buildings that look like crap. There is no one enforcing people not picking up thier dog feces, it's everwhere-even on every sidewalk. And then the low lifes here are worried about cell phn towers, thats the least of what they should be worried about.....Bayville should be renamed to Shameville!
